Can Chiropractic Treat Medical Conditions?

"Chiropractic deals with all the things that your body has to perform, how you drive, how you make a salad, how fast you can read and how well you can remember things." - Chiropractor Reggie Gold

If your back, your shoulders or your neck hurts, you go to a chiropractor. But if your discomfort is health related, you make an appointment with a doctor of medicine...why is that?

Because over the years, we have learned that Chiropractic care helps correct spinal misalignment and other associated problems. But in fairly recent years, we have learned that it does much more than that...we have learned that Chiropractic professionals are able to help rid your body of several health issues.

Although it may take a couple of weeks for results to be seen, the nice thing about Chiropractic care is that it's non-invasive, effective, safe, and it works. It eliminates the dependency on drugs and uses natural methods in healing the body.

What health issues can Chiropractic treat successfully?

  1. Regulate Blood Pressure - Oftentimes nerves get pinched or blocked, causing them to not work properly, and cause fluctuations in your blood pressure. A chiropractic adjustment can realign your nerves, which will reduce your blood pressure's fluctuations. Follow up exercises can be recommended to keep your blood pressure at the proper levels.
  2. Stress, Depression and Anxiety- Sometimes as our lives get very busy with work, errands, children and many other things, our nerves, whose function it is to maintain a balance between stress hormones, become blocked, and restrict the correct signals from coming and going to the brain. Then stress hormones can be released unregulated. Chiropractic care can realign the nerves that are affected and bring your stress levels back into balance.
  3. Improve Posture - Your posture is very important for the proper function of your body. Poor posture can cause headaches, muscle tension, neck and back pain, fatigue, trouble breathing and so much more. Chiropractic care provides specific exercises and massages that can help correct poor posture.
  4. Alleviate Pains From Pregnancy - A great majority of women experience pains in their lower back while they are pregnant, which can be managed by regular chiropractic visits. These visits can also help prepare your body for going into labor, and may even be able to help shorten the length of labor by relaxing the pelvic muscles. Chiropractic has also been used to successfully treat premenstrual pain.
  5. Recover From athletic Injuries - Chiropractors can help you learn methods that can help relieve muscle and joint tension, related to physical activity, which will build up over time. Injuries can cause muscle tension or imbalance, which Chiropractic care can help you heal from.
  6. Arthritis - While Chiropractic care cannot cure arthritis, it can help in other areas of the body that are affected by the inflammation of arthritis.
  7. Headaches and Migraines - Many headaches and migraines are caused by tension in the neck and/or back. Your Chiropractor can help you relieve that tension.
  8. Inflammatory Bowel Disorders - Spinal manipulation has proven to be a good treatment for such disorders as inflammatory bowel disease, colitis and other bowel problems.

The primary focus of Chiropractic care is to locate and correct imbalances in the nervous system and spinal subluxations. If your nervous system is functioning properly, your body has a much better chance of healing itself.
